J. V. Round Up
The J. V.'s opened the season by
osing to a taller, more experienced Fort Hill Five, 75-24 at the City Arm- ory in a scheduled 17-and-Under Leogue game. High scorer for V.E.S. was Elvey Thomas with 8 points.
The J. V.'s lost a tough one to Rivermont 29-1 I. Although the score would indicate a one-sided affair, the game was closely matched with V.E.S. getting off to a bad start. The start- ers for this game; Ross, Thomas, Barker, Turner, and Rollins, were to be the regulars for the follow ing gomes with the exception of Marshall Long, who was t o join t h e s q u a d oler.
The Baby Bishops jumped into the win column by beating a tough A. M. A. J. V. team 51-41 in a game close from the start.
Following this up was a determined win over Holy Cross 40-24 to even up the season's record at 2-2.
Whale" Long, playing exceptional boll, along with the other starters, scored 13 and I0 points, respectively in his first two games for the J. V.'s.
It was a revenge-seeking J.V . team that faced Fort Hill last week but, for all our determination and skilled play, their superior height and superb ball-handling showed through in a 68-24 rout that was not at all shaming to the boys who, playing well, fully realized to whose advantage those added inches fell.
