College Football Previews
As fall comes on its time for over- coats and more important KING FOOTBALL. A pre-season run down of our nation's top teams is as follows:
MIDWEST: Led by All-Americans J. C. Caroline and Mickey Bates, ll'nois appears a cinch to cop the Big Ten conference. They will be closely followed by Iowa a n d W is- consin, led by Alan "The Horse" Ameche.
As for the Independents in the Mid-West, Notre Dame, under the direction of young Terry Brennan, should be able to cope with any op- po;ition .
THEĀ· EAST: The top team in the East appears to be either Army or Cornell. They could be pushed by a
strong Navy squad, otherwise the East is very weak in good teams this year.
ACC: The Atlantic Coast Con- ference is packed with good teams. Maryland, last year's number one team, appears to be the strongest team in the conference, but the Blue Devils of Duke should not be under- rated. The Devils looked very con- vincing in their 52-0 win over Penn. Also very much in the running is South Carolina who should make things tough for their opponents.

SO UTHWEST :
Texas along with
should push any other Southwestern Conference foes out of the running for conference and national recogni- tion.
SOUTHEASTERN: Early season de- feats to Georgia Tech and Alabama leave the door wide open in the Southeastern Conference. Pre-season favorites were Georgia Tech, Ala- bama. and Mississippi. A t this point Mississippi appears to be the strong- est team in this conference.
BIG SEVEN : As in y e a r s p a s t , there is only one feam in the Big Seven Conference. Oklahoma, for years the best team in the Confer- ence, is still the best to be found. Missouri and Kansas are expected to be the only threats to Oklahoma's title hopes.
ROCKIE-5: WYOMING!
PACIFIC COAST: California is expected to be the top team in the conference followed by a strong U.C.L.A. and a powerful Oregon team.
