A MELLOW ROCKIN' STOMPER
The Homecoming Hop
On October 16, a crowd of happy students and alumni packed the little gym for what proved to be a very successfu l homecoming dance.
After winning the game with Woodberry that afternoon everyone was ready to stomp. The V. M. I. Commanders supplied the music from eight-thirty to twelve, and the place was rockin' all nite long.
The decorations we re very good. The hop committee put a lot of hard work and gave up a lot of their free time in making the dance a wonder- ful success.
The theme of the dance was "Wel- come Alumni." Posters of a Bishop clobbering a Woodberry tiger (just like the game) along with stream- ers and hanging tapestries adorned the gym. The band was placed in a decorated box on the side, instead of the end, with a very good effect.
By popular request, Mr. Bartol showed us how they do a South of ihe Border dance up north.
Roe preserved his reputation as ''coolest and best lover" (of course his '54 Chevvy convert helped- tough break).
Ranny and Anita Turner helped liven up the dance as Rough Ranny turned up with a queen from West- ern Virginia.
Birdman flew in in a Caddie and Betty fluttered all night.
"Git it boy" Marley was there with Lizzie.
"Wedge" Moye was hard with the
prima ballerina.
"Lush" the bushman had to leave
early.
Jenki ns is now calling Goat Man
''Brother Bootie."
Patsy Jones was seen talking to a
strange girl.
Punk was winking around the
campus.
Rico was there too.
All in all it was a great dance and
to the hop committee our gratitude for making it possible.
