STUDENTS AND FACULTY VISIT ST. JOHN'S FOR ANNUAL LOW SUNDAY SERVICE
As has been the custom for past years, the whole school travelled to St. John s Episcopal Church in
Lynchburg to toke charge of the service for the first Sunday after Easter. This Sunday, traditionally called "Low Sunday ", has always been a high day for us, and espe· cially so this time. The weather was beautiful. everyone was feeling good, and the service was carried out to perfection.
Ou r chaplain, the Rev. George Barton Ill, conducted the service and delivered the sermon, assisted by the headmaster, Mr. George Barton, Jr. The music was under the direction of Mr. Jo Banks, our organist, and the V. E. S. choir sang beautifully. The lessons were read by Blair Farinholt and Jim Woolery, and Barksdale Kizer and Pot McNulty took port as acolytes. Elliott Dulaney served as crucifer. The rest of the school was in the congregation, taking its own part in the service. Everything went well, and all the boys enjoyed them· selves thoroughly. W e all look for- ward eagerly to the next Low Sunday, when we will again journey t o St. John's for our ""high Sunday" of the year.

Guests of Faculty at Reception
On Sunday, April 24, the Head- moster ond faculty, reviving on old custom, held a reception and teo for •he parents of Lynchburg boys and ·he local patrons of the school. It lasted from three to five in the after- noon.
An opportunity was provided for all those who wished to see the new Jett Memorial Headmaster's Resi- dence. Also counselors were available to show the dormitories and other parts of the school to any who might be interested in seeing them.
Refreshments were served in the dining room ond were enjoyed by all.
This reception is both a pleasant and a valuable custom in that it gives the parents of students here ond the patrons of the school a chance to get acquainted with the faculty and their families and to discuss their son's schoolwork with his teachers.
We at the school hope that this practice will continue for years to come for the enjoyment ond benefit of both faculty and their guests.
FOUR CONFIRMED BY BISHOP
The Right Reverend John E. Gravatt, retired Bishop of Upper South Carolina, visited the school Sunday, May I, to confirm four stu- dents.
The boys confirmed were Donnie Grimes, Hora ce Day, Tim Camden, Chill Langhorne. The parents of all the boys were present and attended an informal coffee at the home of the chaplain after the service.
After the confirmation Bishop Gravatt celebrated the Holy Com- munion which was received for the first time for the newly confirmed
students.
W e greatly appreciate the time
the Bishop gave to us ond sincerely hope that he will return again soon.
