MISS GANNAWAY
Since part of her job is meeting prospective students and showing Them and their parents around school, Miss Lucile Gonnoway might be said TO be the first association that a new ;tudent has with V. E. S. As that new student stays at the school. he soon comes to see her activities in many other things as well.
Miss Gannaway is known officially as Secretary to the Headmaster. However, we all know her work covers many varied fields not suggested by ·his title. Her work includes such ·nings as averaging grades and cor- responding with alumni and new stu- dents alike.
Born in Tennessee, Miss Gannaway was educated at Soule College and State Teachers' College. She ma- 'ored in piano.
She started her secretarial career in Murfreesboro and Nashville and later become a secretary for the DuPont Engineering Company. She
as transferred to Wilm ington, Delo- are, and then to Detroit, Michigan. After several years, she went into ecretariol work in the church. During hat time, she directed a summer amp in Canada and was a pastor's ssistant in three Methodist churches. Since Miss Gannaway undertook er duties as secretary to the head- master a t Virginia Episcopal School on July I, 1945, the Gannoway fam- ly have all resided together here on
he campus.
Her personal interests range from
he sports of basketball, baseball, ennis, and bowling to travel and eading.

OLE ASTROLOGER
Well, kiddies, this is your real cool dad on his fluffy peering through the gloom which has settled over the Ole 160 again. As I eel up, my sights clear and I see that love, I mean spring, is here once more.
The snakes are big this year, as Rico leads the mob into the wilds of Fort Hill. Harper is hot on the trail, as Dillard and Cowper are caught in the stampede. Cranz drifts around in a smog flashing o new ring.

Suddenly my telescope lights up as I see a bathing beauty. No, it's Horace and his chill boy scout Ber- mudas.
