Jr.
Name: David Coker Cannon. Home: Sumpter, South Carolina. Born: Somewhere!
Always Heard: " Hey, man!"
Pet Love: Pegged pants.
Pet Hate : Running "cross
try" at track practice.
This is David's first year at the Ole
160, and he has become one of the best liked boys in school. He was off to a good start when he made a name for himself as a rugged line- man in the J.V. football team and became a member of the J.V. Club.
He is a hard working boy and is also known f o r his s h a r p s e n s e o f humor. David has a good knowledge of motors and electricity, which we are sure will help him when he goes to N. C. State next fall.
This spring David came out for track and was entered in the first meet against Fork Union. At this time, he placed second in the mile, so it seems that he has a good possi- bility to letter in this sport if he keeps up the good work.
Everyone will certainly hate to see him leave in June, for he has cer- tainly made a place for himself at V.E.S.

Name: Verne Monroe Keefer ("Tex"}.
Born: No kidding!
Home: Lynchburg, Virginia. Usually Seen: Driving his limou-
sine.
Pet Love: Girls-Jean Lee, Elaine,
Sally Evans, Polly, Myrna, Linda, etc. Ambition: To make people forget
Bronko Nagurski.
Verne came here many years ago,
then went to E. C. Glass and returned this year. His return here was greet- ed with great joy. In Verne, the 1954 gridiron Bishops had a truly g reat fullback, one who plowed through op- posing lines like a maddened bull. Woe be to anyone who got in his way. It always seemed to be "Tex" who gained the crucial yards and made the key blocks and tackles.
He worked like a fiend all the time and the managers can tell you how black his jersey was after every game. His record at Glass was also bril- liant. In track, his winning of the 440 against Fishburne was one of the fine- est feats of V.E.S. athletics.
His friendl iness and good nature make him one of the most popular boys in school and his marks are con- sistently good.
Best of everything to a great guy and good luck in college.

Name: Hartwell ("Grandma").
Home: Lynchburg.
H e n r y Gary
coun-
Usually Seen: Driving one of the later model Chevvies.
Usually Heard: "Saw a good mov- ie last night, Mr. G. (ahem)"
Ambition: To get away with sing- ing in Gu 's class.
Hart has been with us for two years now and has become well-known on the 160. He's near the top of his class in everything and constantly maintains an average of ninety or above.
Last year, Hart received his letter in J.V. football and then came up to the varsity this fall. Although he played J.V. baseball last spring, this year finds him at work elsewhere- keeping his scholastic average high and his golf score low (?).
Grandma takes off to Princeton next year and we'll all hate to see a great guy leave, but wish every kind of good luck for the future.
