O n Thursday, April 25, Horton, Dave Wilso1, an::l Chill Lang· horne left V.E.S. with Mr. Hester for u th·cc day stay in Lexington for the S.I.P.A. Convention.
The Southern Interscholastic Press Association Convention has been held every year since it was founded in
1926. The Lee Memorial Journalism f-oundation of W ashington and Lee University wanted to extend to the hiCJh schools or>d pre")aratory schools of the South the high idealism of Southern journalism, and this was the aim of the founders of the S.I.P.A. During the second World War, the convention stopped because of travel restrictions and other war time diffi- culties. There have been no other suspensions .
There is on election for president of the S.I.P.A. Convention. All our representatives learned that in 1950 Stuart Harris of V.E.S. was elected president. He is the only V.E.S. stu- dent ever to receive that honor.
