V. E. S. STUDENTS TAKE READING COURSE
This year, the school is continuing to use the services of the Baldridge Reading School for students who need remedial reading. The course, which lasts six weeks, is designed to increase both the reader's speed and his comprehension.
Among other new techniques, the
"pacers" and "flashers"; the pacer forces the reader's eyes down the page, and the flasher trains the read- er to recognize words at a faster speed.
The course has had excellent re- sults elsewhere, and most of the stu- dents taking the subject here seem to feel that it is doing them some good; the school is expecting the grades of many students to improve as the course is finished.
