Gene, a counselor in his second year, was a cross-country runner and then a J.V. basketball star last year. In the spring, lean Gene can be seen on the tennis courts putting away, somewhere, many a forehand slam. This year he is our number two man. He has also tried his hand at the gentleman's sport, fencing.
In the summer, he drives meat- wagons when not playing tennis. Gene hopes to go to either Stetson

Big Bad John olso came to V.E.S. two years ago. Immediately he made aname for himself by playing first ;tring offensive end and the
monster" position on defense on the lootball team. This year he repeated a,f season but with more terrific results. From football he moved to varsity basketball where Bullet grooms fim for his position as a "warrier." ·his past season he became invalu- able to the basketball team with his
disconcerting" tactics.
John is known for his great legal 'alents and will most certainly be a '1g loss to V.E.S. when he enters the NCS engineering school this fall.

When V.E.S. got Knight almost five
years ago, he was a typical little day student. Now at the end of those five long years he is truly one of the finest boys in the senior class. He a lone rivals Devon's engineering ability . Skiing weekends, procuring clothes from Brooks, trips to Nan- tucket and other such parties are only small slimmers o f his t a l e n t . V ery sharp, but still at ease, Smiley can turn a boring Friday night into a good time. Knight has been a basket- ball manager for the past two years and rockets to new unheard of heights on his fiberglass pole every track season.
Smiley will head south to UNC this fall where he will surely be as well-liked as he is here.
