Col. Frank Sullivan was born in South Boston, Virginia, and gradu- ated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1941. After college he joined the Marine Corps where he stayed until his retirement this year. During World War II he served in the South Pacific. More recently he has been at Parris Island and in Washington.
With his family, which includes a son in the eighth grade here at V. E. S., Col. Sullivan lives in the duplex near the gym. He teaches American and Medieval History and is assisting Mr. Lee in coaching varsity football. In the winter he will coach basketball.
Mr. Reed
Mr. Reed, graduate of Boston Uni- versity, came to us from private en- terprise in Denver, Colorado. He has had wide experience in the teaching profession which includes instruction at Eastern Military Academy and New York University. Originating in Boston, Mr. Reed is well traveled in this country. This includes duty in the United States Merchant Service. Our teacher of mathematics and physics is at present working for his Master's Degree at Harvard.

D. C., but has lived most of his life in Richmond. He attended St. Al- ben's School in W a s h i n g t o n a n d gr~du~ted from Davidson College. From there he went to Union The- ological Seminary and taught at St. Alb~n's while he worked on his Ph.D. He taught at Trinity Pawling School 'n Pawling, N. Y., and then went to St. Christopher's School where he t~ught for three years.
Besides serving as chaplain, Mr. Boyd teaches R. I. and coaches J. V. foot boll.

Mr. James Shanklin
Mr. Shanklin, although a first year teacher, is no stranger to V.E.S. Head counselor of the class of 1960, he has already established a fine reputa- tion for his calm demeanor. Majoring in history, Mr. Shanklin acquired his Bachelor of Arts degree at Yale Uni- versity. Previous teaching experience for him inclules a summer a t Christchurch School. A native of Bluefield, West Virginia, Mr. Shanklin has spent some time in Europe and in the West. Our teacher of history, geography, and chemistry hopes to instruct here for two more years, then take a year off for work on his Mas- ter's Degree.
