Carper Cool brought with him from the mountains ol West Virginia a characteristic which has since been tagged as coolness, but it is actually his willingness to go out of his way to be friendly to everyone. Bill's easy-going nature and quick humor have won him many friends at VES. He has extended his willingness to be friendly to the opposite sex, and they have responded. Had he not already been branded with one nickname, he might easily have been called the Don Juan of VES.
Bill's smooth social ability and his willingness to work led to his appointment as Dance Committee chairman last year. He has been a counselor for two years, and he was secretary-treasurer of the senior class. He has played on the Meteor and Vestige staffs, and he played a role in the Art and Drama Society's production of Billy Budd. He was so upset, however, that there was no part for a lover in Billy Budd that he hardly said a thing throughout the whole production.
Bill has proven his ability in athletics by earning two varsity letters in basketball. This year he was elected co- captain of the Bishop's-five; he also served as treasurer of the Monogram Club.
Now that Bill knows everyone at VES, he hopes to widen his scope next year by attending The University of North Carolina.
