John came to VES in 1961 as an aspmng sophomore from the Tarheel State. He soon established his athletic prowess as a halfback for the Baby Bishops. Since then he has earned a Varsity letter in football, two letters in base- ball, and has become a member of the Varsity Club.
John's subtle cynicism and happy disposition have prov- ided a variety of entertainment for his companions. He has often been found exhibiting his football skills, calling one of his many flames in Greensboro, or organizing night study halls on dorm. He is always willing to listen, and he has headed many interesting discussions in his room - at al- most every hour.
As a Varsity cheerleader, John has done a good job leading school spirit during basketball season. He served as a member of the Vestige staff. Always a diligent worker, John has studied hard, and his grades have kept him in the top-third of his class.
John's sincerity and friendliness have earned him the respect of his classmates, teachers, and coaches. He plans to attend The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
