CLAUDE HAMPTON MARTIN ROANOKE, VA.
Claude came to VES straight from the Hill's Club in Roanoke. Being a postgraduate, he found it a bit hard at first to lose the freeness of high school life.
Somehow Hamp found time away from his studies for football. He helped lead the team to two straight victories, then he suffered a broken ankle and was out for the rest of the season. Imdomitable, Hamp's fondness for athletics overcame his cast and pain, and he soon started playing touch football in the afternoons.
Hamp is very fond of The Stove and of R. I. He is an advocate of baggy pants and fly-away collar shirts. He has been seen in the company of a girl named Handy, but he plans to have his sixty-ninth date with a girl named Nene soon.
Hamp had planned to study at Oxford; his passport got bogged down in red tape, however, so he will be probably seen wandering around the campus of V.P.I., or The Uni- versity of Virginia, next year.
