CLARK SMITH RALEIGH, N. C.
Leaving Raleigh, North Carolina, in his sophomore year, Clark Smith has called Lynchburg and VES his home. Now in his senior year, and president of his senior class, Clark has become a friend to anyone he ever met.
He will be remembered as the happy, sensitive, genteel, sincere, ever-active personality who for the past three years, has been an integral part of the school's life.
Though Clark made notable achievement in academics, his true subject is human beings - not in the abstract, nor in the mass, but one by one. Each individual who came with· in his ken was a creature to be studied, observed, and under- stood, be it a faculty child, master, or fellow student. He will be remembered as a just counselor, a vestryman, (serv- ing on the Vestry for two years, being Junior Warden his senior year), a member of the Hop Committee and Mono- gram Club, and a contributor to the Meteor and the Vestige, And not last: his efforts on the J. V. basketball team for two years, and on the Varsity baseball team, all three years.
Next fall, when the Class of 1965 and its leader, Clark Smith have gone on to higher endeavors, VES will feel the loss, Wherever he goes-The University of Virginia or The University of North Carolina - Clark will surely be sur- rounded by people who, like those who knew him here, will remember him fondly as a true friend.
