Students Try To Solve
Inner City Problems Weldon Huske and Gary walk down the steps of Kum Bah Yah house
At Madison Street
Beginning with a seminar attended by many V.E.S. students and Lynchburg citizens, a reyamped Madison Street Project was launched by the Lynchburg Christian Fellowship, which discussed the problems of the inner city and outlined a plan for working with these problems. The Madison Street Project offered V.E.S. bCilys an opportunity
to understand the problems of the inner city
and work with community leaders· in one specific area: that of providing underpriviledged children of the first grade level with basic reading and learning skills. Art, games, books, and field trips brought worthwhile hours to tutors and their children
as friendships began and grew. The pleasure and satisfaction the .students gained from helping these underpriviledged children should certainly promote the ever-increasing role of V.E.S.
in the Lynchburg community.
