Conferences, Programs,
Banquet Comprise A Busy Fathers Weekend
Fathers, sons, and a few mothers convened in February for Father's Weekend. There were athletic events, conferences with teachers, the dramatic production of "The World of Carl Sandburg," a banquet, and five inches of snow
all in one weekend. Hours were spent in talking about the present and the future, giving a chance for V.E.S. to bring its family together. A film by Vince Lombardi showed a captive audience about second efforts, and on Valentine's Day, students spoke to the Father's Committee about various aspects of the school, ranging from academic to social life. As new boy Joey Lamb quite candidly told the fathers, "These are the years that I'll look back on
and think to be the best - at least that's what my father tells me!"
David Bland and his father enjoy a warm conversation with Steve Johnson and his parents outside Randolph. Renewing old friendships was only one of the enjoyable aspects of Father's We~kend.
Falling snow greets the fathers as they leave the chapel, having heard students' speeches on school organizations, athletics, academics, and social and religious life.
