Adding Of New Course Alters History Program
With Mr. Jobe assuming leadership of the History Department, there were several significant advancements,
especially in the tenth grade. Mr. Blake established an advanced placement program in Modern World History, marking the first time a course of this type has been taught on the sophomore level.
Mr. Goggin and Mr. McGill utilized the same basic procedures, approaches, and objectives as in past years; that is, students were not merely presented with historical events, but were trained to examine philosophical viewpoints and rationale
behind the events. Current happenings were also emphasized so that the student might increase his knowledge of present world conditions.
Despite afternoon apathy, several Ancient History students try to listen attentively as the fall of the Babylonian Empire is discussed during last period class.
Members of Mr. Goggin's Modern World class write industriously or ponder the origins of the Second World War in order to finish a grueling test before the period ends.
