Bishop Crush Maroons In 1969 Season Opener
Virginia Episcopal School opened its 1969 football season with the defeat of an ominous Prep League rival, Episcopal High School, 33 to 14. On the Bishops' first offensive play, quarterback Neal Partrick hit end Tim Sullivan with a pass for seventy-four yards and a touchdown. From that point on, the game belonged solely to the Bishops, as they repeatedly thwarted every attempt made by the frustrated Maroons. It marked the first time that V.E.S. had defeated E.H.S. in twelve years, and it served to heighten the aspirations of every player, coach, and student for an outstanding season.
Graydon Pleasants and "Ole 160" await another Bishop touchdown.
Rice Matthews spots an opening as Allen Hamblen and Oliver Crawley provide sufficient blocking against Episcopal High School.
Quarterback Neal Partrick listens as Coach Rock Lee explains the strategy to use in scoring the next touchdown against the Maroons.
