Big Homecoming Game Brings Record To Four Wins
After winning games over Blue Ridge School, 28-0, and Norfolk Academy, 31-14, the prospects of a victory on Homecoming Day seemed good indeed. Because of the team's fine record to date, the number of spectators was very large. Not only were there parents and friends of students on hand to watch the Bishops, but many alumni also returned with hopes of a fourth V.E.S. win. The game, played on Johnson Field, which was named "Death Valley" for that day,
proved to be just what everyone hoped for. The fighting Bishops crushed the Seahorses of Christchurch School, 31-2. That night, at the dance, Neal Partrick and Hunt Taylor each received the Deyerle Award for their outstanding play.
Coach Fitz Elder shows a faint look of worry, an expression he rarely had during his defensive squad's successful season.
Neal Partrick begins a run around the end as Bill Alexander prepares to block out a pursuing Christchurch defender.
