V.E.S. Slips By R.M.A. To Rack Up Sixth Win
A rain-soaked but none-the-less boisterous crowd urged the mighty Bishops on to victory over previously unbeaten Randolph-Macon Academy in what was definitely the toughest game of the season. Although V.E.S. trailed throughout the majority
of the game by six points, with two minutes left to play, Allen Hamblen scored on a short run which climaxed an arduous drive to the goal line. After a successful pass by Neal Partrick to Hunt Taylor, the Bishops were
on top by two points and were able to hold this margin until the end of the game.
Thinking back on the events of the game, several players noted that without the tremendous enthusiasm of the V.E.S. fans, the game might have been lost.
Quickly converged upon by two R.M.A. attackers, junior Cac Hoyle attempts to ward off the pursuers.
Cold, covered with mud, yet determined to win, tri-captain T . Barker Dameron prepares to cut in for a gain in yardage.
