After having trounced Fishburne Military Academy, 55-0, the previous weekend, the Bishops
traveled to Lynchburg City Stadium, where
they met the Saints of St. Christopher's before
a crowd of 3,500. Since V.E.S. and St. Chris had respective records of 4-0 and 3-1 in Prep League contests, the game was for
the League Championship. In spite of
the Saints' formidable record and their
high rating as strong contenders for the title,
V.E.S. walked over them by a convincing
score of 57-15. In a contest marked by
outstanding football feats such as a 42-yard touchdown from a pass interception, a triple reverse, and an over-the-shoulder pass, the Bishop offense and defense exploded in proving they were really No.1.
The game was the last for the Bishops, and
it brought their perfect record to 9-0-0.
