Five years ago when I came to V.E.S. the demeanor of the rtudents w u always superb.
Spirit eminated from everyone present at atheletic events and in chapel. We were not the culmination of the Prep League
by any means; but even though we lost we etill stayed behind the teams.
Now, we are etill not the epitome of the Prep League, but the epirit is lacking. Everyone
yellll at pep rallies, but the feel· ing is not present, people are just going through the motions. In the past we bad pep rallies in the wrestling room, the noise that issued from the student body brought paint from the
ceiling. People believed in the team no matter how poorly the team performed.
With the size of the present etudent body we should rock the gym. I believe all the lungs at

BoWicing laerosse balls, bluing etereos, and "Bull sessions" are a very important upect in the life of VES students. Each of these and the like adds to the general welfare and actual sanity of students yet each hu their time and place, otherwise how can students who want or rather need to etudy do so?
With the importance of atheletics running such a close second to currieuluQJ at VES, it is evident that time is of essence and
etudentstneed every extra eecond of silence obtainable. It lillY frivaloue at the moment to play the radio a tad louder tip-toe down the hall with the thud of Goliath, or whisper to the tune of a little girl screaming at a Hitchcock movie, but at times this can be extremely diecourteoue to the poor fellow next door in dire need of solitude. Students ehould try to use discretion and make prudent judgments concerning when and where to make noise-put yoursell in the other guye' ehoes.
The few houre following night etudy hall along with
othere are among the deciding factors of the success of mrny etudent.s; but with an uproar on dorm nothing can be achieved. There
is a di.:emible dUference between the senior/junior 'and the aeventh through tenth grade in the intensity of homework. There are Umea when seniore and juniors (likewise with seventh through tenth, get prevelant in the junior and senior do not complete their homework in the two hour span of night etudy hall making it necessary to work a little longer. A prerequisite to capably accomplishing this is quietness, therefore those who do not hsve work should the right of those who do.
The weekday nights are not a time for carousing, but ratber the weekend provides etudents with the perfect chance to unwind, cauee pandamonia, and create a tumult (within reuon). Only one place during the weekend do students need to practice the art of
quietness-the b"brary. Silence takee precedence over all in the library and if anyone feels compelled to "bull" with a friend while there; take it somewhere else, be courteoue and reepeet the rights of individuals there for a reuon.
It is undebatable that etudying takee all the concentration a
can bare to muter to, with diligence, produce any result whatroever.
It Ia therefore for thoae whose prioritiee are not in
and would rather "fool uound", or thole who are on the ball, up to
date with eehool work and want to "fool around" to atlfle it 10 that thr can make an honewt attempt to advance forth into the n rhp
