J.V. Wrestling
This year's J.V. Wrestling Team is going to be, in the en· thusiastic words of Coach Mark Armstrong, "the best jn the Prep League." Last year at the Prep league Tournament, if the score had been taken, the J.V. Team would have won the tourney. Everyone on that team is return· ing so VES will have excellent experience and leadership, along with the depth of promising new boy . Good performances are ex·
pected from wrestlers Tres We d, Evan Clark, Bland Kirk y and Kevin Angles.
Although also strong in the
higher divisions, this year's strength will lie with the lower
weight classes.
Because many boys wi.ll help
out the varsity team, it is hard to determine which boys will make up the J.V. Wrestling Team at this time. The toughest matches will be against St. Christopher's and Woodberry Forest. Last year bad weather kept the team from wrestling at St. Chris, but the junior grapplers beat
Woodberry.
This year's team is working hard and it deserves your en· thusiasm and support. So come
out and help cheer on the J.V. Wrestling Team.

Var ity occer at VES has not
be n a very succes ful squad in the past, but this year we're on the ball.
A 30 man team of highly pirited athletes was selected from tho e who tried out, and from the progres made so far, it looks as if it will be a hard team to
top.
Mr. Foster, a mi.ld-mannered
engli h teacher here at VES, is the head coach for this winter's soccer team. He is assisted by Mr. Brown, who unfortunately,
work with the team.
Many of the team's member
are returning veterans of the fall soccer program, however, a good portion of the team was involved
in 'Other eve nts during the fall. Colter Paxton and Bruce Ross are the two co-captains for the 1979-80 season. Winter soccer
has had bad times in the past, but '79-80 soccer is out to change that tradition. This idea was reverberated by Coach Foster when he told the team, "We have a lot of good potential. and I believe we can go a long way with
