were to be used as a protection device for the course.
Finally, it was time to hit the trail. Whit Kellam exclaimed, "If anybody gets in my way I'm gon- na' pulverize 'em." The course was full of .different kinds of
events. Each required the group to think in order to solve a pro- blem. At each, the entire group had to work together, building a special spirit and air of co- operation.
Bill Butler and Mr. Ross both liked the rope swing with the nitro-glycerin. Paul "Pretzel Man" Parker and "Letcher the Lemon" Newcombe liked the donut factory (they both eame up short). Big Bob Hopeman and Bob Bowden enjoyed riding the wet log and Tom Sellinger said that he really liked the "1ip" wire. When John Andereon got off the zip wire, he exclaimed, "I
saw a bear!" Oh really John??
In spite of the bad weather, Mr. McLaughlin and all the others thought everything went
V~>ry well.

The garb we wear today reflects a variety of personalities and
qualities of each individual. VES is, in a way, blessed to have both the fashionable as well as the obtuse dressers. Recently, VES·nominated people for Best and Worst dressed, of which, regrettably, only 10 could be selected in each category. It was a hard fought race, but you must agree that the results are exceptional.
These nominations will also be turned fnto the All-Prep Committee (sorry Baily and Hike Mike) with final results announced at a later date.

Spotlight ••• Spring Daaees: Many students
enjoyed participating in various dances and proms in the area, including Chatham Hall, Seven Hills as well as our.own Spring Dance.
Special Saturday: Tomorrow, May 28th, there will be an Alumni Baseball game with the
V arsity team
followed by a Blue Grass band
experience which teaches leadership, trust and group work. The trip was quite a suc- cess.
Everyone got up early to eat a 5:30a.m. breakfast, then we load- ed onto the bu.s by 6:00 a.m. We were not held back by the rain that was with us all day long, al- though everybody was soaking wet and freezing cold by the end
of the day.
Upon arriving at the school,
we split up into groups; one teacher per group. We met our group leader and began practic- ing a few safety precautions, such as carrying Big Bob Bowden over our heads as a flying carpet. He suggested that we come up to his apartment every morning
and carry him to breakfast like that. We then were tied up with swam my belts (very tight) which
which will be festival at 4:30, then a picnic. See
you all there!
