the arrival of girls to V.E.S. next
fall it would be only fitting to adopt a new system of leadership for the school. This in fact may happen, but in speaking to Mr. Zimmer regarding this matter, he emphasized the fact that no matter what happens, there will be some form of counselors, stu-
dent government etc. He also stressed the point that if in fact the counselor system does change, the change will have ·nothing to do with the arrival of women at V.E.S. Ever since Mr. Zimmer came to V.E.S. in 1982, he has been thinking about
changing the system. The plan for counselors next year is two- fold. We will either maintain the present system or we will switch to a prefect system, in which five or six seniors will be selected as
nominees will be seniors who are fully able to understand what it takes to be a counselor. Mr. Zim- mer wants to install a strong sense of pride in the counselor body for next year. There will be a girl on each floor of her dor-
mitory who will be appc.inted, through her qualities of leader- ship, to act as a counselor and assume the same responsibilities as other counselors. While the girls would perform the same duties as other counselors, it will
be difficult for some of us to adhere to their tone of direction. In any event, next year's school representatives will undergo
rigous training to insure that they fully understand what is ex-
pected of them.
