The mighty defense fends off the Barons as the fearful middiefattack connection maintains the pressure.
The JV Lacrosse team finished the season with an apparently dissatisfying 4-6 record. But through a closer analysis of the season, one can see evidence of success. For instance, the team outscored their opponents 44 to 32 goals. Five of the losses were by a total of six goals - four 4-3 losses, one in OT. The defining factor for the season was youth. of the twenty-one players, fifteen were sophmores or freshmen.
Statistically we dominated every category as a team except for shots on goal. This fact brings to light one of the main reasons we did win four games and were in every game we played - we had great play from our goalie. Michael Ong fin- ished the season with a 75% save rate on shots l on goal. Michael was creditted with two shutouts and one game with an amazing 86% save rate. We also had strong leadership from our captains Dehler Hart and Peter Ogwal, who guided us through a grueling schedule of four away games in a row, against three of our toughest opponents in the first half of the season. Dehler led the team in points with 8 goals and 6 assists and was our leading face-off man. Peter had 5 goalps and 3 assists whlie collecting a team-leading 60 ground balls.
Ashton Cates led the team with 12 goals and 2 assists, and a 60% shooting percentage. Chris Morris and Andy Ward anchored the defense all season long (Chris had 7 takeaways and 19 groundballs and Andy had 6 takeaways and 26 groundballs). Adam Thorsen and Ted Kleisner each had 4 goals. Adam also had 3 assists and 34 groundballs and led the team with 5 minutes in penalties. Mike Tolosa was a steady performer all season, always keeping the ball in play with his skill and speed.
James Hiner received the Most Improved Play- er award due to his dedication and determination. The team-elected MVP was Michael Ong, who represented the heart and soul of the team.
