P. 80
On a cloudy Thursday, 28 determined field hockey players crawled off their velour vans. There was a storm a'brewin' and as a wave of maroon shirts took the field, the cold rain began to fall. The Bishops lost the pass-back, allowing Marymount to score, and a frustrated coach called her players off the field. With clearer minds, the Bishops returned to the soggy field and took control. 'Becca "Goose" Wallace smacked the ball across goal and Bonnie Brae Stewart slammed it in. Enraged by the goal, Marymount launched an offensive, but VES's brilliant defense of Ch,istian "Mamee" Lewis and Julia Jackson
pushed the ball up to their forwards. VES scored again making it 2-1. The Mounties retorted with a quick goal - tying the game at halftime. Second half, links Hunter Simpkins, Amy Ziemba, and Julie T akacs were kicking Mountie' s all over the field. The ensuing battle lasted until the last five minutes of the game. With little time remaining, the Bishops popped a final goal. As the last sec- onds ticked away, the clouds parted and a half- rainbow painted the sky. "I don't know - pa- thetic fallacy? Does that work baby?" CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LADY BISHOPS FOR YOUR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON...
