Mary Kathryn Craft
Even though I have only been at VES for five months I still can't believe how quickly the time has gone. I would like to thank all of the teachers and staff but mainly the students who have made this experience so enjoyable.
I would like to thank Charles Jacob, Phillip Head, David Ruiz, George Patterson, Nero Cao, Anthony Swan, Caleb White, Lee Parker, Wood Britton, McGuire Gill, my favorite sea creature Kelvin So and all of the other guys on Wyatt for making it so easy to settle in so quickly and adjust so easily to living on the other side of the world. Without you my VES experience would have been a lot more difficult and a whole lot less fun.
One of my first memories of VES was my first Basketball game. This was where I first saw the unity and intimacy of the VES community. The packed, screaming bleachers of Van Every on game night were a far cry from the deserted sidelines of athletic events at my last school. Watching the team go all the way to the State Championship game was an amazing experience and one that I felt a part of. Although people often say that nobody remembers second place, I doubt anyone at VES will forget the incredible performances on the court or Kyle Ellis and the now infamous rollercoaster cheer.
The spring term has also given me the opportunity to try new things including one of my new sporting loves, Baseball. I cannot describe how grateful I am to Coach Jones and Coach Ross for teaching me how to learn, love and respect the game and how to have a great time doing it. A special shout out to all the guys on the team for an unforgettable season on and off the field. From our extra inning win against Holy Cross to our end of season trip to Buffalo Wild Wings it has been a season I will always remember.
The Guadeloupe Spring Break trip was one of the best holidays I have ever been on and would not have been the same without constant efforts of Mrs. Frazier and Mr. Bonner A.K.A 'The Cheese Master'. I will never forget my first time scuba diving, climbing a mountain in flip flops, getting crushed by waves, late night bro sessions, sharing the man cave with John Chamberlin and the beginning of my love/hate relationship with Marjorie Baker.
I would like to end by saying thank you again everybody at VES for welcoming me into the community and for making this experience so memorable. Good luck to all of the seniors at College next year and to all of the underclassmen in the rest of their VES lives. Love all of you guys and I hope to make it back across the pond in the near future to visit.
