LIVING AND LEARNING IN THE NATION’S CAPITAL
Unparalleled Opportunities Beyond the Classroom
The only boarding school in Washington, D.C., St. Albans provides students from near and far with a home away from home. The dorm houses thirty Upper School students (grades 9–12) who, in recent years,
have come from as far away as Bulgaria, China, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Northern Ireland, and South Korea and as close as Washington, D.C. This small and dynamic mix of students adds breadth and diversity to St. Albans’ community. Boarders get the most out of St. Albans by living on campus, and they make St. Albans a richer, more complete school.
All students benefit from the school’s location in the nation’s capital.
Students visit museums, government institutions, and historical sites to enhance classroom learning. Student musicians have performed at the Kennedy Center, the White House, and embassies, and athletic teams have competed on university fields and at Nationals Park. Students conduct research at nearby universities and the Library of Congress and take advantage of internships
at local institutions such as the National Institutes of Health.
“One of my favorite memories of the dorm is the moment at the end of the day, after classes and sports, but before we started homework or went to dinner. Everyone would congregate in the common room, and we’d talk about the day, recount these crazy, funny stories, and just relax and de-stress. I think that moment, the fraternal bond formed there, best captured what I most
appreciated about the dorm.” RICHARD FIGUEROA, ALUMNUS
