MIDDLE SCHOOL
Technology knows no borders. Rikki Bischoff’s MS History
students used Skype to solve an international mystery this
fall. In 20 questions or less, students had to figure out the
location of a group of students somewhere in the world.
They now communicate regularly with their newfound
friends in Sweden. Later that week the students enjoyed a
virtual tour of Hagia Sophia, a museum in Istanbul.
Middle School Science students blended technology
and biology in Mr. Leonhardt’s classroom when they
identified species by first scanning a QR code on the
ceiling, researching the related species online and writing
conclusions about what they learned.
Eighth grade Spanish students took a trip to Fellsmere
to test their skills in a Spanish grocery store. Senora Galindo
and Senorita Keeling tasked students with making their own MS history students use Skype to solve an international mystery.
grocery list and speaking only Spanish while on the trip.
LOWER SCHOOL
Both fourth and fifth grade were ranked Number 1 in the
Nation on the National Current Event Test. In fourth
grade, Christopher Porter was ranked Number 1
individually in the nation, while Eli Barin was also ranked
Number 1 in the nation for fifth grade.
The third grade brought Florida history to life with
their annual play, Tale of Two Henrys. Last year, they made
a request to focus on their home state, and Mrs. Sharman
answered the call with a play that she wrote and directed
herself! After their performance in the Waxlax Center
for the Performing Arts, the students took their show
on the road and performed for the residents at Indian
River Estates.
