On Saturday night, February 26th, a reading and debating contest '~as held in the Study Hall for the purpose of selecting a reading and debating team to compete with a team from St. Christopher's School ; and, if successful in this, to com- pete with other schools of the state in the contests to be held at the University of Virginia, May 7.
George Darst won the reading contest with Reinhold Rogers second. Darst read: "His Last Song," by Willoughby Reade, and Rogers read "Uncle Remus on the Telephone," by Joel Chandler Jiarris.

After a series of preliminary debates, Gunn and Wilson were chosen as tho best two debaters in English IV, and Banks and Houghton, the best two from English III. Banks
