and Houghton upheld the affirmative side of the ques~ion, R olved ·That immigration to the U. S. should be matenally re:ricted·. They were defeated, however, by Gunn and Wil- son as defenders of the negative side.
Gunn and Banks were chosen as the team to debate with
the team from St. Christopher's.
During the intermission between the main spcech~s and
the rebuttals in the debate, the "V" was awarded by }.fr. Branham to the following members of the basket-ball team:
G. S. Brown (Capt.), Loth, W. Lee, Terry, Bachman, and Barber. The manager's monogram was awarded to
Pierce.
While the assistant managers of the teams are not awarded
a monogram, we feel that they should 1·eceive due recognition and we, therefore, take this means of calling attention to the good work of Houghton and :McCulloch as assistant managers of football, and of Darst as assistant manager of basket-ball.
At a meeting of the Executive Boa1·d of the G. A. A., Shield was elected assistant manager of baseball and Ilough- ton was elected next year's manager of football.
February 18, :Mr. Tucker went to Salem, Va., to attend a meeting of the Student's Vohmteer Movement.
On February 17th Mrs. Dexter Otey entertained the Dra- matic Society at tea in a roost delightful manner. On the
26th they were again entertained, this time by ~Irs. Abbot. March 1, baseball and track practice began with nearly the
whole student body out for one or the other.
Mr. Mattfield went to Washington to attend a meeting of the Clark University Alumnre Association on February 28.
