December 12th, Dr. Pendleton and :Miss Hotchkiss were married in "Tarrenton, afterwards hurrying away to New York on their honeymoon. Among those present were Miss Leavell, a pretty bridesmaid, and nlso Gamble, :llcCulloch, Hotchkiss, Randolph, repre:;entatives of tho student body. On our 1·etnrn to school, we were all Yery pleased to find the newlyweds established in V. E. 8.
December 13th, examinations stmted. Something is con- stantly killing one's joy. Howe,·er, December 21st, ha,·ing pulled through the great time of trouble, we went home.
:;\fany of the faculty stayed oYer tho Christmas holidays. :Mr. :i\lattfield, :Mr. Branham and :llr. Ladd were guilt.y of such appa:::ent unnaturalness: at least so to us. The Bankses, the Dawsons, and :Mrs. Branham with her daughter, complet- ed the party. We hear many wild and weird tales of them. Singing to the accompaniment of an accordion while taking a stroll along the a>enue, was the strange past-time of some.
