A student while out strolling, Strangely got it in his mind
That he was the famous Francis
Drake,
Aboard the Golden Hind.
Soon he saw a clumsy galleon, Rolling o'er macadam sea;
So he grabbed a handy boulder, And approached the fray with glee. His first shot hit a broadside;
The crash brought things to light. He had hit a Reusens school bus; He was petrified with fright.
A grumbling driver stopped the bus, And soon was at his side.
"If ye run, ye murderous villain, Then I'll surely tan yer hide.
Ye hit me bus and skeered the kids, And now ye'll have to pay.
Give me yer name, ye villain;
I haven't got all day."
The student's' tongue refused to wig-
gle,
But he managed just to groan;
"Alexander Curtis-" The rest he left unknown.

******** While sitting in the ante-room,
He soon forgot his mirth,
And thought him of the judgment That folks received on earth.
He had read about men hanging, And how their bodies dangled.
He put his hand upon his throat, And imagined that throat strangled. A woman came out weeping;
He was sure the law's steel grasp Had got her son for stoning;
He could just make out to gasp.
A gruff-voiced cop now called his
name,
Or rather all he gave.
H e came before the grim-eyed judge, Certain of the grave.
'l'he judge in hollow, ghostly sounds Informed him of his crime,
While the culprit swore he'd never throw
A rock another time.
As the judge grew cold and silent, The boy inquired of his fate,
"Will you straightway go and hang me,
Or be kind enough to wait?"
