By Charles Carty
With the curtains pulled on a 4-3 win-loss record the Bishops put away their football equipment and put on their gym shoes for what looks like a successful season of basketball.
Coach Johnston, who heads the Varsity, has four returning lettermen in the indoor sport: Charles Carty, Bob White, Ronald Marshall, and Webb Maddux. Carty and White are regulars from last years quintet. Mar- shall and Maddux played a great deal in last season's tilts.
Johnston opened practice Novem- ber 30 with about twenty candidates out to win a berth on the hardwood five. The first few days of practice showed that a lot is to be done if a winning team is to be held. By the end of the first week Johnston has already molded together what looks like a better team than last year.
The Bishops this season, more than anything else, will be lacking in height. As a result of this Coach Johnston has perfected a race horse type basketball consisting of a con- tinuous fast break. So far in practice this type of play has proven very successful.

It is hard to tell this early in the season who will hold down the top five spots but strong contenders for them are Bob White and Dickie Car- rington at the forward posts, Charles Carty at the center spot and Cullen Bradley and Ronald Marshall at the guard positions. Close behind and still in the thick of the fight are Fred- d y W o o d w a r d , Brown Finch, Earl Johnston, guards; Web Maddux, cen- ter; and Jimmy Winston, J o h n Thompson, Bobby Barrett, Sonny Peir- son, Jack Stoughton, and Tommy Bat- tle, forwards.
