Spencer McCulloch who is now the
c i t y E d i t o r o f t h e " S t . Lo u i s Po s t Dispatch" visited V. E. S. on Sept. 26. He was head counselor of the School in 1920.
1921
Cameron Shipp who was ohce a reporter and literary editor for the :Aeteor is now a famous topflight Hollywood scribe. Shipp, who is the author of a new biography of Lionel Barrymore entitled " W e Barrymores'' is olso the author of the 1949 best- seller a b o u t Billie Burke, " W i t h a Feather on My Nose." He gives the credit for his writing incentive to "Uncle Matty" (Henry W. Mattfield), o former senior master and English teacher at V. E. S.
1929
John Dunn the son of one of the
co-founders came by the school on September 19. He is now employed by the telephone company in Alex- andrio, Virginia.
1936
George Barton, III o former head-
counselor of V. E. S. and the son of Dr. Borton visited V. E. S. this sum- mer. He recently received orders to return to overseas service in the East, ond is thought to be in Tokyo on a special mission.

George Whitaker was married to
Miss Mary Louise Smith on Septem- ber 16 in Winston-Salem, N. C.

Gray Carrington who IS v·orking
for the Gray-Barr Electrical Co. in Charlotte, N. C., visited V. E. S. on Friday, the 29 of September.
1943
Arch Alexander, Jr. of West Vir-
ginia was married on the 29 of Sep- tember to Miss Juliet Staunton Clark of Charleston, West Virginia.
James Mead of Low Moor, Virginia was married on the 23rd of Septem- ber to Miss Margaret Beckwith Mur- ray of Covington, Virginia.
1945
William Field came by the School
on September 29. He is now the second year English instructor and track coach at Staunton Military Academy.
1947
Jack Carpenter, Jr., who is now
attending Yale, Robert Field, and Robert Hughes II, both of whom are students at the University of Virginia, visited V. E. S. during the second week in September.
William Carter who is planning to attend Lynchburg College in Febuary dropped by the School on the 26th of September.
Sears Harris also came by V. E. S. recently. He belongs to a Landscap- ing firm in Chicago, Ill.
Alfred Craft was married to Miss Anne Lee Baune of Danville, Virginia on June 24th.
1948
George Lewis who attended the
University of Virginia last year visited V. E. S. on September 30th.
1949
Robert Barrett and Hal Jackson,
who are both students at William and Mary came by here on the 19th of September.
Fred Ogden who went to U. Va. lost year and Tayloe Murphy who is attending Hampden-Sydney came by on September 30th.
1949
Jimmy Frazier who is a student at
the University of Virginio also came by V. E. S. recently.
1950
Bob Robinson, Charles Brooks, Tom
Battle, and Dick Carrington, a ll of whom are freshmen at the University of Virginia, visited V. E. S. a number of times during September.
Owen Shull, a student ot Washing- ton ond Lee, came by the School on the 30th of September.
Monty White also visited here on the 30th. He is attending Virginia Military Institute.
Shannon Shirley of Greenwood, Virginia visited here on the Ist of October. He is now employed by the Acme Visible Record Co. of Crozet, Virginia.
