The Student's Psalm
My teacher is my undoing.
I shall not pass.
' le Maketh me to expose my ignor-
ance before the class.
He destroyeth my good resolution. He prepareth a test for me in the
presence of my enemies.
I will fear more evil when he is near
me.
He annointeth my paper with low grades.
My marks runneth lower.
Surely to goodness, if zeros follow me
all of my life,
I shall dwell in V. E. S. forever.

bounds of mortal possibility. (This relic was sold to a farmer for three dollars.)
The present bell was procured from the old Epiphany Church in Lynch- burg, amid shouts of objection from the obliging vestry of that church.
On January 29, 1933, the bell fell from its hallowed heights while bid- ding our unsuspecting inhabitants to supper. It dug into the ground at the base of the tower, marking a mile- stone, and no doubt evoking regrets that it wasn't damaged beyond re- pair.
The senior class of '47 left a sum of money to go toward building a brick tower for the bell. The author must be somewhat disillusioned or nearsighted, for every time he looks, the brick tower evades his gaze. Only a metallic skeleton is seen.

Direct word from Lt. Ho Barrow
Turner, Lynchburg Marine Corps of- ficer captured last November by the Chinese in Korea, was received yesterday by Mrs. Turner, the form- er Eleanor Stalling, almost to the day a year after his capture.
Two letters, postmarked Peking and dated September 2nd and 17th were handed to her by the postman and brought the first word directly from the officer to his family.
. A ssurance of good treatment by h1s captors accompanied the mes- sages, apparently a prerequisite in outgoing communications from com- munistic areas.
