Owens matriculated at V.E.S. in
September of lost year. He quickly adapted himself to the prep school environment and strove on for his goal. His hard work has paid great dividends by putting him consistently on the "study-out" list. Owens is devoting his spare time to being one of the school librarians. Last fall Owens earned his J . V. letter in foot- ball as an end and this year he has im- proved immensely to play a lot of varsity football as a defensive tackle. He also is turning his talents to bask- etball and is waging a hot battle for a position on the varsity squad. His fight always makes him a top con- tender in any sport. In the spring sports, whether it be tennis, baseball or track we know "A. 0." will be giv- ing it all he has. Owens will gradu- ate come June but not without first giving us all a lesson in good sports- manship and fair play.
