Brookville-First Loss
Although the cagers from Brook-
ville trailed by a point at the end of the Ist stanza, they went on to whip the Bishops 53-43 here.
The taller Brookville team, paced by center Doug Fuqua, tallied 16 points before the half to hold a five point lead at the intermission.
Coach Bartol attributed the loss to bad passing and ragged ball handling.
Jimmy Davidson paced the losers with 9 points, leaving the game in the last stanza with five personal foul s. Doug Fuqua led the winners with 19 points.
V.E.S. stayed with the taller visiting team in the first half and only four points behind in the end of the first quarter. During the final period the visitors did their best shooting of the day and made 21 points.
Bill Stokes starred on the home team with 16 points, 12 of them com- ing in the hoop as field goals from far out in the court, and 4 of them from 5 foul shots. Jimmy David son fol- lowed up with I I points.

The V.E.S. Bishops bowed to the Woodberry Forest Team in their third game of the season after one of the hottest and closest co nt e st s yet played with a 66-50 loss. The Wood- berry boys showed deadly accuracy from the floor as well as their free shots, led by their dead-shot guard, Evans, who made thirteen of his foul shots and chalked up four field goals, making him high scorer of the game with twenty-one points.
The home team was hardly outdone by this, making thirty-eight per cent of their shots and sixty-four per cent of their free tosses. Still the Forest team made better than fifty per cent of their field tries and eighty-three per cent of their foul shots.
F. U. M. A. Tops Bishops
The defense of the cagers from Fork Union Military Academy proved an unsolvable riddle to the Bishop quint in the contest here. This de- fense, combined with the brilliant rebounds and hook shots of Snookie Wawner, who led all scorers with 19 points, sealed the win for the cadets. The Bishops' decided lack of height netted them very few rebounds, and despite some fancv jump maneuvers bv Sam Peirson, the final tally was
52-34.
The visitors held a comfortable
lead all through the contest. They led 14-7 at the end of the first period stretching it to 28-17 l'lt halftime, and 44-29 at the end of the 3rd period. Bill Stokes led the Bishops with I0 points, while Sam Peirson was runner-
up for the losers, netting 8 points.
