Ole Astrologer
(Continued from page 5. col. 2)
peeking at our new counselor "Who Me" Hutter.
The "Ole Astrologer" hears a roar of a powerful engine being warmed up. Then the grueling squeal of burn- ing wheels. As he looks closer he finds it's only "Scotty" MacGregor, the King of Stock Car Drivers, de- scribing his adventures as a driver to an admiring crowd.
"Speedy Skivvys" is seen scratch- ing gravel as he shows off his new car to the boys.
"Winnie" Moss portrays quite a distinguished figure. Dressed in spats, pipe in mouth, he invites the Algebra class over to his "quarters" for a spot of tea at four.
JoJo, descending into his cellar, once again to oil his sneakers and eyebrows, grabs the molded manu- script of mildewed jokes and strides once more to English Class.
With this final glance, the "Ole Astrologer" notices his sundial and rushes to catch the nearest comet to the airless infinity of the universe.

Tremendous Throng Welcomes Ike
(Continued from page 3, col. 3) Eisenhower was introduced as a
great American, and it was said that the only thing the Democrats had against him was that he had accepted the Republican nomination. Ike lashed out at the government for lavish and reckless spending and a weak foreign policy. He _stated that we have lost souls to Communism at the rate of I00,000 a year since 1945, and that we live in dread of other Koreas. Also on his theme of clean- ing out Washington, Ike stated, "I don't think you should have to ask for honesty in government. I think if you demand it-you'll have it!" He cited an incident about Senator Carter Glass of Lynchburg to bring home his point.
The day marked a gala event for V.E.S.; Dr. Ba rton lifted restrictions for all the boys and almost all went to hear Ike. Many wedged them- selves up to the front row and got a very good look at the general.
