Name: Edward Willis Carter
Born: Winston-Salem, N. C.
Lives: For fun!
Ambition: To live up to his Fabulous
name!
Pet Love: Small change (a penny or
two)
Pet Hate: Washing helmets.
There was a welcome figure around school last year when Ed hit the cam- pus. Showing himself a friendly and energetic guy from the first, he be- came trainer for the football team and won his letter, and wa5 on the honor roll for most of the 1954-55 year. Ed, after getting out of Alge- bra, went into mourning because his "Daddy" was leaving for Roanoke. When spring came, he was trainer for baseball.
This year, Ed has copped many honors. He was made a counselor and voted president of the Senior Class. He is vice-president of the G.A.A. and secretary of the V Club, but the best title Ed holds is summed up in just two words-Great Guy.
It'll be either Carolina or Wake Forest that will be the lucky college for Ed next fall. Whichever one it is, he'll take our best wishes with him.

Jim came up to join us last year
and everyone noticed his modesty and his great personality right away. He immediately got on the honor roll and continued to stay there, even with six subjects. He also went the whole year without getting stabbed by his "Jungle" roommate. Jim went out for basketball, and with his speed and jumping ability, proved a chal- lenge to anyone. His greatest talent came out with baseball, when J im had one of the highest batting aver- ages the school has ever had-.426 for the season. He also covered shortstop with precision, and certain-
ly helped to complete a successful season .
He was appointed a counselor this year and is a great one, as he's hold- ing down notorious 2nd West. When baseball appears again, we can al- ways count on a great ball player leading the Bishops.
Next year he'll have our best wishes when he bows out for U.N.C. where we know he'll continue his good work as a friendly, studious and ath- letic fellow.

If someone comes up and slaps you on the back or shakes your hand so hard that it feels like it is broken, you can just about be sure it's "Stu" Elliott. H e a n d his friendry smile came here three years ago and won admiration from both the faculty and students for his hard work in class and on the athletic field.
His first year he went straight to Bartol's J. V.'s and gave the team a lot of spirit. He also went out for
track where he began to show talent as a miler when spring came.
When he put on a uniform for the J.V.'s the next year, Mr. Bartol said, "One day soon were going to have a 'Mus Elliott Day,' when 'Mus' will be a star." The next game he ran eighty yards for the only score. He also got his letter in J. V. basketball. Mus went out for track again and showed improvement, so we're pretty sure he'll get in the "V Club" when track season comes around.
This year Stewart was made a coun- selor, where he is doing his job well. V.E.S. will lose a good guy when
he goes up to Vanderbilt next fall.
