S. 59, FISHBURNE 57 Despite the fact that shorpshooter Jap Richardson and ace rebounder Jim Shanklin fouled out of the game early in the second half, V.E.S. staved off a last minute F.M.A. threat to win a close 59-57 thriller on the Cassion's home court. With the two big guns out of the game, Sonny Simpson, Neil Hunt and Bev Hutter
moved in to keep things on top for t h e Bi s h o p s . F . M . A . p u l l e d a s t i f f defensive press in the second half, but capable ball handling and nine crucial points on the part of Simp- son kept the game alive, and as the final buzzer sounded, V.E.S. left the cou rt as winner. Richardson, with 17 points, and Hunt, who scored I I, were the top men for the Bishops. The game's high scorer was Maxey, for Fishburne, with 22.
BISHOPS TOP AMA BY TEN
After getting an early lead, the Bishops slowed down t h e p a c e o f a home contest with A.M.A., and went on to win by a 52-42 score. Jim Shanklin, wit h 10, Simpson, with 14, and Richardson with 17, paced the Bishop scoring, but game honors
went to Calandros of A.M.A., with 22 points to his credit.
SAINTS DOWN BISHOPS
St. Christopher's powerhouse ball club was held t o 46 points by an outcla5sed Bishop team and had to fight to pull it out and win, 46-40. The score was tied at least 12 times during the contest, and the scoring was led by 0 Ferrall of St. Chris- topher's. Shanklin and Richardson each got 12 for the Bishops.
BISHOPS DEFEAT ALTAVISTA
In a second game with Altavista, S h a n k l i n a n d Ri c h a r d s o n g o t 3 3 points to thwart a revenge threat by the Virginia village team. Out- scored in the third quarter, the Bis- hops held their lead to win 59-53.
The Basketball Bishops closed their season with a 63-47 loss to a more powerful St. Christopher's team, which had had a close call in a previous outing here at home, and finished the season with a 8-7 basket- ball record. At the end of the sea- son, the V-Ciub awarded Varsity Basketball letters to Davidson, Shank- lin, W entz, Simpson, Richardson, Hutter, Hunt, Temple, and Kiester. Hunt, and Managers Temple and Kiester were the new members of the V. Club.
V. E. S. - BOONSBORO
After trailing Boonsboro 14-7 at the end of the first quarter, the Basketball Bishops bounced back to keep things even in the second quar- ter, and outscore the team 17-6 and 23-16 in the second half of the game, and the final score was 62-50.
In pulling the game out of the fire, the Bishops put 4 men into the double figures. Jim Shanklin led the t e a m with 16, followed closely b y J a p Richard son a t 14, while Bev Hutter and Sonny Simpson tallied 13

BISHOPS TOP ALTAVISTA
High scoring Jap Richardson put in 17 points as the Bishops topped a hot Altavista team 55-51 in a close home game. The team was behind 28-35 as the halft ime buzzer sound- ed, but Richardson and Simpson teamed up to lead a 17-point scor- ing spree in the third quarter, while Altavista, led by• Johnny Eades, was held to nine points. In the fourth quarter, Altavista again outpointed the V.E.S. team by one point, 14-13, but it was not enough, and the final score was 55-51 in favor of the home team.
WOODBERRY- V. E. S. Outclassed by an alert and cap- able W oodberry Forest five, the Bishops dropped a 67-48 contest to their arch rivals, Woodberry Forest, in a wide-open game in Orange. The Woodberry team put three men into the double figures, while the top effort for V.E.S. was II points scored
