Brookville Outlasts V.E.S. And Defeats The Bishops 12-11
Brookville held the Bishops score- ass in the first inning and they scored •wo runs in their half of the first on o double by Buddy Moore and a
~omerun by Mike Mallow.
The Bishops brought.out their guns 'n the second inning and shot the Bees for seven runs on four hits. Clark Smith started the inning by getting a walk. Tommy Worth singled scoring Smith who had gone to third on two passed-balls. Toby W ebb walked sending Worth to second and then Frank Mora singled to load the bases. Pitcher Richard Cowper
singled to score Worth and Webb, then Mora scored on a passed-ball. Kell Gay and Elliott Northcott both walked and Goy scored on a wild oitch. Clark Smith singled to score Northcott.
The Bishops picked up a run in the third when Frank Mora walked, stole second, went to third on the over- throw to second, and scored on a passed-boll. The Bishops ended the scoring in the fourth, getting three runs on four hits, one of them a solo homer by Bobby W atts. Clark Smith
singled and went to third on an error. Smith scored when Tommy Worth reached first on an error, then moved to second on another error. John Ellison, who came in for W ebb to play second bose, got a single and scored Worth.
Brookville scored three runs in the third on three singles and a triple by Mike Mallow. The Bees scored five more runs in the fourth on three hits, and two more runs in the sixth on
two hits and a couple of Bishop errors.
The error-plagued Bishop squad committed six of them to give Brook- ville seven unearned runs. Bishop hurler Richard Cowper pitched a good game, but was not able to get enough support on the field from his teammates.
The Bishop team ended the season with a record of no wins and nine losses. Better luck next year, Bishops . .. but a good effort this year!

Saints Overpower The Bishops 12-5
St. Christophers come to Lynch- burg and brought with them their heavy artillery. In the first inning the Saints capitalized on three Bishop errors, a triple, a double, and two singles t o score four runs. In t h e second inning Saint third baseman Frank Easterly hit a grand slam home- run t o score four more runs. Th e Saints scored their tenth, eleventh, and twelfth runs in the fifth on two errors and a homerun by catcher Blaston.
The Bishops scored five runs on five hits. The first run was scored in the first inning when Bobby W a t t s who had singled was brought around by Clark Smith's double. The Bishops again scored in the fifth when Kell Gay doubled, Elliott Northcott walked and Watts hit a triple for two R.B.I.'s. W atts and Smith both scored when the Saint pitcher walked one too many to push across Watts and Frank Mora sacrificed to score Smith.
The leading hitter for the Bishops was Bobby Watts who hit a triple and a single, scored twice, and had two R.B.I.'s.
Brookville's Moore Shuts Out V. E. S. On A No-Hitter
Brookville pitcher Buddy Moore came to the Bishop's field and won his own game when he hit a lead-off homerun in the first inning. Moore's blazing fast ball was too much for Bishop hitters as he did not allow a hit and he got them out in order ex- cept one runner who managed to get on base on an error.
Brookville scored ten runs on ten hits and made one error. V.E.S. did not score any runs, did not get any hits, and made two errors.

Rock Hill Downs Bishops In Last Inning
On April 22 the Bishops played Rock Hill of Charlottesville at the Rock Hill diamond and lost an 8-4 encounter.
The Bishops got nine hits and made four errors while Rock Hill got ten hits and made two errors.
Rock Hill forged ahead in the first inning when they scored three runs on five hits; from then on they were held hitless until the fifth inning when the Charlottesville team got a single from Bishop starter Tom Worth.
The Bishops picked up two runs in the third and two more in the fourth on seven hits. In the third captain Kell Gay led off with a triple and scored on Elliott Northcott's single. Bobby W atts scored Northcott, who had moved to second on a passed ball, with a single. In the fourth Frank Mora led-off with a single and moved to second on Toby Webb's bunt. Tom Worth loaded the bases with another bunt. Mora and W ebb scored on another single by North- cott to round out the Bishop's scor- mg.
Rock Hill came back in the sixth and touched reliever Richard Cowper for five runs on four hits and capital- ized on two Bishop errors. The Bishops threatened in the seventh, but Rock Hill pitcher Shifflett got out of the jam and did not allow any runs.
The leading hitters for the Bishops were Kell Gay and Elliott Northcott with two hits apiece.
Woodberry Downs Bishops For Second Time
The Bishops lost a 6-1 decision to Woodberry on the opponent's field before a dance week-end crowd.
The Bishops g o t seven hits and made five errors while Woodberry got eight hits and played errorless defense.
W oodberry scored five of its six runs in the second inning on five hits. The Tigers rounded out their scoring in the fourth when they picked up one run sacrifice bunt and a Bishop error.
The Bishops lonely run came in the sixth inning when Bucky Harris singled and went to second on a walk to John Ellison. Bucky scored when Tom Worth singled.
Harris and Worth led the Bishops offense with two hits each.
