New Wrestling Team Builds Strong Base;
Trotman Is Highlight
Wrestling returned to the V.E.S. athletic program after being discontinued several years ago. The wrestlers
were led by co-captains Dick Trotman,
the only undefeated matman on the squad,
and Bill Hill,
while a major portion of the scoring was shared by Truman Sayre and Sawyer Manly.
David Hanes, Reed Leverton, Bud Doughton,
and David Smythe also contributed
to the team's success and gained invaluable experience for leading next year's team.
Nicknamed "Goggin's Gorillas," after their
beloved coach and conditioner, Rodney Goggin,
these Bishops started &om scratch
and built a base
for the wrestling program of coming years.
