Despite several close losses to
Prep League opponents, the Bishops should get their revenge in the final Prep League tourna-
ment.
In the last match ever against
inner-city rival, E. C. Glass, (next year Glass will play golf in the fall) the Bishops lost by 10 strokes. Low score for the Bish- ops was David Allen with 331-

The VES Spring Track team
ended its' season with a fairly impressive 2-4-1 regular season record and a fifth place in the Prep League meet out of a highly competitive field of nine. In the most recent regular season quad meet against Ravenscroft, Dur- ham Academy, and Hargrave, VES turned in many good per- formances.
In the field events, Charlie Crowder took a first in the high jump; Bill Gravely took third in the pole vault, and Randy Steph- ens and Charlie Triplett both did well in the shot and discus. In the- running events, Captain Mar- shall Hairston took two fll'st places in both the high and inter- mediate hurdles. Richard Waldis took a second in the 880 yard dash, blaming his loss of first
place on the fact that a piece of metal in his left ear weighted him down. Paul Gautier came in second in the 2 mile with Brian Sebrell not far behind, cutting almost a minute off his previous 2 mile record. Other meet stand-
outs were David Basham, Gene Grant and Tommy Hudson.
The team also had some high- lights in the Prep meet at Wood- berry Forest. In the field events, "Ox" Randy Stephens captured a fifth in the discus, followed by Charlie Triplett who tied for sixth in the same event. William Gibbs took a second in the triple jump while Charlie Crowder snagged a second in the high
jump, beaten only by an oppo- nent whom he had previously defeated. In the running events, the VES mile relay team toOk a fourth place, and individually, Paul Gautier made a good show- ing, coming off of an ankle injury to place a strong. fifth in the 2 mile. Last, but not least, Mar-
shall Hairston astounded the crowd by coming in first in the 300 meter hurdles, winning AU Prep honors, and barely missing the Prep League record in the 300 by only hall a second. Mar- shall also competed in the 100 meter hurdle•, but wu not too pleued with hia performances. He blamed hia luck on ·team member Nell Connor•, whom he
clafma tripped him at the atart- lng line. It 1eem• u If Manhall auggeated that Nell drank alarp US 01. Coke at Durham, before
