facelift. Mr. Douglas, Mr. Harper and many others diligently worked through the summer to improve various facilities.
The gym had three major changes. The weight room has been expanded, and new trophy case (thanks to the mother's committee) has accompanied the renovated lobby, and new lights were installed. Lamar Gardens
has a new appearance also. Randolph has also been re- arranged a bit. The bookstore has been moved to the basement of Randolph and the old book- store is now a classroom. Ran-
dolph basement also had air conditioning added as well as two new publication rooms. The
The computer room has been expanded in two ways. It is now twice as big and a new computer
has been added. The public rela- tions office is now across from Mr. Zimmer's office and the Dire- ctor of Day Student Services is
now in Pendalton 106. To top all this off, the infirmary has been revived a bit.
The time and effort, not to mention the money that has been put into these improvements is immeasurable. Let's have re· spect for these new addi~ions. They were done for our use and if we want more as such we must
show our respect for their time and effort.

The year has begun. As much as many people desire to avoid that tidbit, it is factual. I know well that you have already been given various "let's have a good year" talks, yet I would like to present various thoughts, some often overlooked, why one should strive to have a·good year.
The first, and without a doubt, most important reason is also fac- tual, very factual. You will be much more content with yourself, not to mention other's happiness. Even though z;nany try to show that it bothers them not, I know well that each and every person is much happier if he received that good grade, if he sees his name with no
demerits adjacent to it, or on a larger scale, makes it through the whole year. For this reason, even if you can please no one else, please yourself.
Although you are most important to please, others care very much too. Your family, teachers, faculty, and friends should also be taken. into great consideration. Your family has spent a very respectable
sum for you to come and receive a quality education; scholastically and socially. Let's keep that in mind when you're about to perform some deed of mishap. Your teachers and faculty have also put in. unimagineable time towards preparing your .academic schedule, and

I saw in a paper once the question "When can you die happy" and one man's response was "When I have fulfilled all my goals I set in life." I know that each and every one of you wants to make school a memorable and lasting experience. Let's keep that in mind as we journey through the
