BY JON WARREN
This year 40 eager students showed up for early football.
V.E.S. got a jump on all of the other prep league schools. The team started a week early under the watchful eyes of new head coach B. K. Mundy. One reason
for the early arrival was because Coach Mundy and Coach Me· Laughlin spent many long, _hard
hours over the Spring and Sum-
mer trying to put together a new and effective offense.

We Wish All Fall Teams A
Great Upcoming Season
The coaches seem to think that
the team has come a long.way
since day one and have already •
had two scrimmages which turn-
ed out well. The first was against
Amherst High School's Junior
Varsity team. The other-was
against Episcopal School in
Alexandria. In both scrimmages •
the Bishop's seemed to move the ball well on offense and hold the other team up on defense. The
h u yet to exercise it's kick- ing game against anyone. Coach Bailey feels that this will be a big factor ip our games this year.
The Bishops this year are led by team ~;aptains Bill Nelson and Dill Battle. Returning lettermen
this year inc:lude Charles Trip- plett, Chuck Straub, Wes Watkins, Billy Hunter, Jon War-
ren, Scooter Harris, Charles Russell, Bill Shumate, Chris Leach, Harris Brown , and
Shawn Morton.
The opener is against
Wood~erry Forest tci!Dorrow
and the Bishops are eager to
"show them their stuff," so
please come olit and support the team!
