Deep Thoughts, Questions and Answers byRebeccaToddandWganLane
How did Andrew get to be sophomore class president?
As we all know, Andrew will inevitably become the classvaledictorian. Alongwith his scholastic abilities, he also shows wonderful leadership endowment, bestowed upon him by his elder brother ~erritt. Although the running between Andrew and Ford Craven was close, Andrew pulled out ahead, as many had expected. Ford put up a good fight, with his brilliant signs and jingles such as, "Cr;- in' for Craven". Perhaps tl act of Andrew's "Old-be ss" and Ford's "New-be 2ss" had an effect on the fil" out-
It's not the fact that people are social about their prob- lems, it's the fact that living in a small communi~ such as VES, different issues spread quickly. One person may know one day, and the whole school will know the next. Sometimes, the problems can be too large for one person to handle alone, so they feel that if they share their problems, their burden will lessen. If you feel suppressed, talk to your guidance counselor or advisor, and they will help you through your trying times.
Why do people at this school talk in baby voices?
Stress can sometimes have an effect on the vocal cords, to the extent of cracking of the voice. This can sometimes
result in a babyish sound. This is an unconscious and many times an accidental action. Don't try to run and hide, it will seek you out, and demolish your mental stabili- ty. No one is safe from the wrath of the Baby Voice.
Why can't girls live on Pendleton?
VES was originally designed as a male prep school. Due to this fact, the bathroom facilities in Pendleton may prove inade- quate for feminine needs. Also security is a major factor to decide its residents. Wyatt and Perkins are equipped with alarm systems designed to keep out "prowlers" who are preying on poor, innocent girls. Pendleton, as well as the other male dorms, do not
come with this feature due to the fact that VES only accepts strong, muscular men, like our esteemed sophomore class president. Although the location of the girl dorms may seem unfair, there are benefits to being somewhat secluded.
Note: Personal opinions- Pendleton should be co-ed.
A lot of coaches are very negative, as in :We won by 50, but we played terribly. Why aren't sports for fun? We're not professional athletes.

Angry about Athletics
~any coaches may have had bad experiences in the past with coaches that showed no interest in the team, or the players. This could have an effect on the
coaching techniques. They may feel that if they had had a coach that pushed them the way that he or she is pushing the players now, maybe they would have gotten that schol- arship and be playing the sport professionally now.
Pointers and constructive criticism from coaches may sometimes seem vicious dur- ing a stressful game or scrim- mage. A t times, coaches can get out of hand and forget that the players are not the profes- sional athletes that the coach- es want them to be. If you feel that your coach singles you out constantly and criticizes your every move, maybe he or she sees that you do have potential to go far. They do not want you to waste an opportunity because of a lack of strong coaching.
come of the race. next time, Ford.
