b'PRINCIPALS MESSAGE SARAH BRUCEThe 2018-2019 school year was the third under the guidance of our current strategic plan. The plan was developed with the goal of enhancing Greenwoods ability to provide a customized learning experience for students, and encouraging the building of character and community. Six priorities for Greenwood over the coming years were identified; I am happy to report on our ongoing progress in all of these areas.1 Invest in the Greenwood Centre for Teaching and LearningAlong with Mary Gauthier, Executive Director of the Greenwood Centre for Teaching and Learning, Expert Teachers worked with teachers and emerging leaders on developing coaching conversations with students and with colleagues. Expert Teachers were supported in this work by completing another level of coaching training. As a way to give experienced Greenwood teachers additional opportunities for growth, teachers who have worked at the school for 7+ years can now choose to work on an independent project that deepens their expertise and their focus on student learning. The model for our Mentoring Program was revised based on feedback from the previous years new teachers; the design of this program is informed by research on the needs of adult learners in a new community. We also recognize that its important to value the expertise within the school; to this end, we created short videos where teachers discuss teaching at Greenwood, and an increasing number of teachers have provided professional development to their colleagues.Greenwood Annual Report 2018/2019 3'
