Social Justice Includes
Activism
THIS I BELIEVE
Mr. Kevin Kuehl
I believe that we are all children of
God--created good and called to be
great for the glory of God. We all
have inherent dignity, and we need
one another more than we will ever
know. I believe in the power of a
community who knows this in their
hearts and chooses to live this truth
with love in action.
Dignity Inclusivity
Gracie Bricker ‘22
I belive in activism and adovacy. I believe in recognizing and understanding the in-
justices of our world. The first step in activism is education and awareness. We must
actively work towards educting ourselves and others on the privileges and biases we
are afforded that the minority populations are not. We must recognize discrimination,
hatred, and systemic racism as well as the lack of oppurtunities these popluations are
provided. These include but are not limited to: lack of access to healthcare, inadequate
nutriotion, lack of access to proper education, income insecurity, lack of safe afford-
able housing, lack of accessible public transportation, lack of access to childcare, lack
of access to clean clothing, food insecurity, unsafe neighborhoods, and underresourced
schools for their chil- dren. Often a number of
these factors works against this population
Next is activism. This takes the shape of
efforts to promote the voices of those op-
pressed as well as in- tervene in their struggles
and empower these populations to overcome
those barriers while bringing about greater Living Authentically
societal reform so that future generations
are not suvjected to these same obstacles.
The ultimate goal is to bring about a greater
good for all. An example of how this could take shape is through service. I believe in
working directly with these populations through partnering with organizations as well
as creating our own outreach efforts to serve those oppressed by the cycle of poverty
and a society which ignores the discrimination they face, their struggles, and the lack
of resources provided to them.
